Strengthening international partnerships for a more resilient Bahamas

Last week, Minister McKell Bonaby and a DRM Authority team, including Managing Director Aarone Sargent and Assistant Managing Director Dominique Martin, met with H.E. Smita Rosetti, High Commissioner of the United Kingdom to The Bahamas.

Minister Bonaby formally introduced himself in his new role and discussed opportunities for collaboration and capacity building with High Commissioner Rosetti, including a knowledge exchange with DRM Authority staff working with British Counterparts, and how the UK and the DRM Authority can collaborate to continue building the country’s shelter capacity. He also personally extended an invitation to RP27, the upcoming regional platform for disaster risk reduction, which will be hosted in The Bahamas next February. High Commissioner Rosetti offered assistance with disaster preparedness and capacity building on behalf of Great Britain

The United Kingdom has been a steadfast partner to The Bahamas since our independence 53 years ago. Together, we look forward to building a more resilient and safer future.
